The stations of Μetro Line 3 extension
“Agia Marina -Piraeus” were
designed by ATTIKO METRO S.A. with top priority given to bioclimatic
characteristics and the safe transportation of passengers in the Metro network.
The extension includes
• 7.6 kms
long tunnel
• 6
modern stations
• 7
intermediate ventilation shafts
• Modern
Modern electromechanical systems.
This is an investment of 730,000,000 euros
euros in areas of the Municipality of Piraeus and in other Municipalities of the greater area (Nikaia,
Korydallos, Agia Varvara).
Until recently, the areas around
Piraeus faced intense traffic problems and were poorly served by public transport
modes.
Now, Line 3of the Metro passes through the
densely populated suburbs of Piraeus and ends in the heart of the city, the
Municipal Theater.
In Agia Sofia, where the streets are narrow
narrow and there is a large deviation due to Vokos hill,
the “Maniatika” station was built, which will contribute to the
decongestion of traffic.
In July 2020, the first three stations
“Agia Varvara”, “Korydallos” and “Nikaia”
were put into operation and since then the additional boardings in total on the network are estimated at 63,000 per day.
